Juliet Yuen Wai-Mun Hsia

After a six month battle with pancreatic cancer, Juliet Yuen Wai-Mun Hsia passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 16, 2000 at home with her family. Here's the Honolulu Star-Bulletin article about her life. Von Hippel-Lindau Family Alliance also published a very nice article.

A memorial service for Juliet Hsia took place on Sunday, September 24, 2000 in Honolulu, Hawaii at the Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church.

The below text is from a letter sent by Juliet's husband Ted Hsia to the congregation regarding the Memorial celebration:

II Corinthians 9:11, 13-15: "You will be enriched in every way for great generosity, which through us will provide thanksgiving to God. Under the test of this service, you will glorify God by your obedience in acknowledging the gospel of Christ, and by the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others; while they long for you and pray for you, because of the surpassing grace of God in you. Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!"

We are arranging a memorial service to celebrate that Juliet has gone to heaven, and to give thanks for all the blessings we have received from her.

Service will be followed by some refreshments.

If any of you wish to give something, Juliet would prefer that in lieu of flowers, cards or cash, please donate contributions either to the Ted and Juliet Hsia Foundation, or to any other charity of your choice. If you wish to learn more about this foundation, the www.hsiafoundation.org website will be up by this weekend; for further questions you can email
Info@HsiaFoundation.org.

Because parking might be tight, we ask that members of the Ohana avoid using the spaces on the grounds, so our guests can be more convenienced.

Juliet is gone, but she is still with us.

We all felt it was much too soon for Juliet to leave us, but our concept of time is not like God's. We must remember with thanksgiving, the great joy and inspiration she has given to us. We should rejoice, because although we will miss her sorely, she has been called by God to a better celestial life.

Juliet’s spirit can now skip over the meadows, soar over the mountains, and go to live in the first class accommodations Jesus has reserved for her in His Father's house. She has attained the peace that passes all understanding, and can bask in God's eternal joy.

She has sought to glorify God by obedience to the message of the gospel. Her love for us has stimulated our love for her, and is multiplied as we extend our love to others.

Her prayers for others have been reciprocated by the many who have prayed for her. Now that she no longer needs our prayers, we should redouble our prayers for others.

She has been a pillar of strength for our Ohana. In life, she strove to hold our Ohana together. In death, she should pull us even closer together. She taught us to achieve and to persevere.

She is now on the sidelines of the arena for the Olympics of life. She will watch over us and cheer us on, until we finish our race and can join her.

She has given gladly in time, effort and resources to our Church, and had many plans for the future of our Ohana. Her vision is for us to fulfill these plans.

We should follow her example, by giving generously of our efforts and resources for the saints and for all others.

THANKS BE TO GOD!

Ted Hsia
